Yes, Neuschwanstein Castle is the Disney Castle. On the train, Curt will get you geared up with rare historical pictures and the history of "Mad King Ludwig". The storybook palace couldn't be in a more ideal setting in the Alps. On your tour inside the castle you'll marvel at colorful murals, remarkable woodwork and original furnishings. On the train ride home, Curt will entice you to become the jury of the greatest murder mystery of the nineteenth century. Was the king brutally murdered?

Note: The Bavarian Government controls tours inside the castles and while seeing the interiors is totally worth the visit they are brief tours (35 minutes).

Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle are within sight of each other and on a private tour, it's easy to visit both in a single day. Hohenschwangau is the castle of Ludwig's youth. Fine murals and tapestries of heroic tales and the stunning natural surroundings gave Ludwig II his love of nature and the epic tales Richard Wagner turned into operas.

The palace is Ludwig's testament to Versailles with shockingly elaborate fountains, an elevator dining table, scores of crystal and porcelain chandeliers and the largest hall of mirrors in the world. Getting there is half the fun. You'll take a short ride on the oldest steam engine in continuous operation in the world and on a classic lake boat with mountain views. The trip can include lunch on Frauen Island famous for the beer they brew and a convent and church with Romanesque murals.
