Hitler sent millions of Germans on vacation?

True! Some of you are saying, "Of course the Nazis sent millions on exotic vacations... To the Eastern Front (providing only one-way tickets)". That's not what I mean at all. Though the name of the movement was the National Socialists, Hitler was never one to let ideology get in the way of a free dinner. It was the industrialists, including members of a secret association called the Thule Society, who funded the Nazis' rise to power. They easily convinced Hitler to disband the unions and seize their funds. The funds were then transferred to the Strength Through Joy Program. Robert Ley headed the program which included building VW Beetles. Germans were treated to holidays involving everything from nature camps to cruises, and as many as 25 million Germans took advantage of the program.
